About Sakas Aahaar

Sakas Aahaar (सकस आहार) means "nutritious food" in Marathi. This blog is a home-kitchen collection of vegetarian recipes: traditional Maharashtrian dishes, eggless baking, and healthier versions of everyday snacks.

What you will find here

  • Eggless baking: cakes, breads, cookies and biscuits made without eggs, often using whole wheat, ragi, rajgira or jaggery. Start with the Baked section.
  • Traditional Maharashtrian food: bhaji, amti, bhakri, thalipeeth, metkoot, chutneys, pickles and laddus. See Maharashtrian Bhaji and Chutney.
  • Fasting (upvas) recipes: dishes suitable for fasting days. See Fast (Upas).
  • Healthier everyday cooking: baked instead of fried snacks, millet flours and seasonal vegetables. See Healthy.

How the recipes are written

Every recipe on this blog was cooked at home, and the photos show the actual dish. Each post lists the ingredients with quantities, followed by step-by-step instructions and serving suggestions.
